COOKBOOKS PLUS SIZZLES IN SANTA CLARITA
Grand Opening Press Release 8/3/2004
For Immediate Release:

Santa Clarita, California, August 3, 2004 - Cookbooks Plus announces its opening, and initial reactions by those who have ventured in have been very positive. ?I?m in heaven!? declared one customer, eyes slowly panning the store?s abundant shelves full of books and unique kitchen items, looking like a child on her first trip to a candy store. She immediately pulled out her cell phone to share her discovery with her sister in Denver.

With the main emphasis on cookbooks, the store, conveniently located at 24339 San Fernando Rd (corner of 8th Street) in Old Town Newhall, CA, also offers a wide variety of home-related books, such as decorating, gardening, do-it-yourself home projects, crafts of all kinds, sewing, knitting, quilting, the arts, photography, and so much more. While some are new, most are what they like to call ?gently used.? Included are some rare and unusual ones, some signed by their authors, and historic and vintage titles. One in particular was published in the late 1920?s, just as electric refrigeration was introduced to families, and contains a recipe for making ice.

?We also offer wonderful gift items for your favorite foodie,? she adds. ?We carry a full line of Microplane graters and Silpat sheets, lauded by such cooking luminaries as Rachel Ray, Emeril Lagasse, Martha Stewart, and even L.A.?s own Melinda Lee.

?If we don?t have the exact book or product in stock,? she continued, ?we will do whatever it takes to find it for our customer.? With more than a decade of experience, she is well-versed in navigating the Internet. She and husband JB also created Mimi?s Cyber Kitchen and Recipe Circus, two of the most popular cooking websites, attracting millions of visitors each year, making Mimi an Internet celebrity.

?This shop is a dream come true,? she went on. ?I love talking about cooking, and each new person who comes in brings a wealth of personal food experience. Many love to sit in our comfortable chairs and chat, or we will discuss the particulars of what they are seeking.

?I?ve even had people tell me they?ve never cooked, so they?re sure I can?t help,? she said. ?But I assure them that cooking is something everyone can do, and cookbooks are the fun way to learn how. Our cookbooks are geared toward people at every level of experience, from novice cooks to restaurant chefs.

Cookbooks Plus plans a series of cooking classes and demonstrations for both adults and children. They will also host book signings, beginning this fall. Check the store?s calendar for dates.
